Here
the client was a subcontractor for Oldham Council. We were asked to
face up a concrete retaining wall with stone and mortar to look like
dry stone walling. this side was 3 to 4 metres deep and the roadside
was 1.1 metres deep. |
 |
The finished
section of roadside wall at 1.1 metres deep. We have subcontracted
to face up other walls in the area in the same style, a 750 metre
wall will take approximately four months to complete. |

This client
asked us to build a dry stone boundary wall after they had sold their
surrounding land for building development. There was no stone available
and there was no existing wall to rebuild. Stone was sourced from
our own stock and a reliable supplier, The access was very restricted
and we estimate approximately 120 tons of stone was moved around the
site to where it was needed by wheelbarrow!! |

This picture
was taken at the end of the project, there was 130 metres of dry stone
wall built.Including an internal garden wall and driveway entrance.
Some stone was provided on site in huge blocks we were able to split
these pieces into smaller boulders and using chisels and a sthil saw
make the stone for the wall, (not recommended as it can be an expensive
method). More pictures of this wall
are here. |
